Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to examine the factors concerning saiban-in’s appropriate participation in deliberation. We conducted 4 studies including 2 mock deliberations. The results suggest that (1) instruction before the trial has effects on saiban-in and that (2) (small effect and statistically non significant but) argument containing logics for the basis of saiban-in’s claim may be effective rather than narrative argument.
