Research Abstract

We proposed an accurate estimation method of bending rigidity of biomembranes in molecular simulations. Our correction method for height fluctuation of planar membranes gives higher accuracy than the previous methods. We have found anisotropic surface tension of buckled membrane. This tension can be analytically derived using elliptic functions. We developed a novel coarse-grained model for lipid molecules, in which membrane properties can be varied over wide range.
