Research Abstract |
Interaction between metasomatism and deformation in serpentinite melange was investigated in the Nagasaki metamorphic rocks, western Kyushu, Japan. Several types of the metasomatism involve changes in porosity and pore-fluid pressure and influence the mechanisms of deformation and fluid flow. Similar phenomena could occur at the forearc slab-mantle interface in subduction zones.
