Research Abstract

We have developed a novel chemistry-based method to detect all types of natural DNA methylation. A DNA probe functionalized with a formyl group discriminates between non-methylated and methylated nucleobases, such as 5-methylcytosine, N4-methylcytosine, and N6-methyladenine, by the formation of a selective interstrand cross-link.
