Research Abstract

新奇イオン電池として,ナトリウムイオン電池系の新規電極材料の開発に関する基礎研究をおこなった.
正極材料の研究として,ナトリウムを鋳型とする酸化物を合成した.層状のO3型とP2型の2種類の積層構造に着目して,NaMO_2(M=Fe-Mn, Cr,Ni_<1/2>Mn_<1/2>)の合成経路を設計して所望の単一相を合成し、ナトリウムインターカレーションによる固相レドックスを調べたところ、前年度達成している120mAh/gの高容量で安定なナトリウムインターカレーションを超える190mAh/gでの作動が可能となることをを見出した。その充放電中の粒子構造・結晶構造変化は、TEM、SEM、XRD、遷移元素の価数変動をXAFSで追跡し、充放電過程の調査を行っている。
さらに負極では、難黒鉛化炭素を用いることで高い活性が発現した。昨年度までに,寿命を伸ばすために、電解液について地道な最適化を進めた結果、過塩素酸ナトリウムを含む炭酸プロピレン電解液中で、100サイクル以上にわたり240mAh/gの高容量負極を達成した。しかしながら,電解液の分解が生じて.劣化を完全に抑えることは困難であった.この電解液の分解による生成物の解析とSEI被膜の役割を調べた.これらの検討を踏まえて,上述の正極および負極を組み合わせたフルセルを試作,ナトリウムイオン電池が長寿命で作動可能であることを初めて実証した.これらの成果をもとに,今後は,リチウムイオン電池系での経験と検討を生かし,電解液組成の検討と新規なナトリウムインサーション材料の研究を強力に推し進める.H23年度は,内閣府・次世代最先端研究開発支援プログラムの一環として,本研究を遂行する予定である.
