Research Abstract |
The magnetoelectric(ME) c-and r-oriented Cr203 films grew on sapphiresubstrates. The coriented film showed quite smooth surface, though included twin grain dueto 4% lattice mismatch. The r-oriented film did not include twin grain, and showeddeep trench between grains to reduce lattice strain. Since the twin grain generatean opposite ME signal, it is difficult to obtain giant ME effect in coriented film. However, it is possible to obtain giant ME effect in r-oriented film with atomically smooth surface by reducing the lattice mismatch.
