Research Abstract |
To identify cancer stem cells in malignant lymphoma, it is necessary that cells sorted as a candidate of cancer stem cells were injected into NOD/SCID mice. In Hodgkin lymphoma cell lines, concentration of intracellular reactive oxygen species was at a low level in a portion of single-nucleated small sized (S) cells. When cultured in methylcellulose or inoculated into NOD/SCID mice, the colony number and tumor size were larger in S than in multinucleated large-sized cells. These findings suggest that small-sized cells might play an important role in tumorigenesis of Hodgkin lymphoma.
