Research Abstract |
Genes expressed only in cancer tissue, and especially on the cell membrane, will be good therapeutic targets. To identify genes that encode transmembrane proteins present in gastric cancer, we generated CAST libraries from three gastric cancer cell lines (MKN-1, MKN-28, and HSC-57) and normal stomach. By sequencing 7200 colonies, we identified DSC2 and TSPAN8 as a gastric cancer-specific genes. Our results provide a list of genes that have high potential as a therapeutic target for gastric cancer.
