Research Abstract

We established the method for measurement of plasma concentration of dexmedetomidine, a sedative medication widely used by intensive care units in Japan. We extracted dexmedetomidine with gas chromatography-negative ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry. The quantification of dexmedetomidine became possible by this method with diazepam as internal standard substance.
