In the current study, risk factors for developing cervical cancer were tobacco smoking and GSTM1 null. And inactivation of tumor-suppressor gene such as DAPK and FHIT through promoter hypermethylation is thought to be one of the mechanisms of carcinogenesis of the uterine cervix.
