Research Abstract |
In the current study, we observed regeneration process of tip link, a key player for the mechanotransduction in inner ear hair cells, and showed its possible spontaneous regeneration in mammal, as same as previously shown in avian. Our data also suggested the difference in the regeneration potential between inner and outer hair cells. Moreover, we demonstrated that the morphology of the apical surface in outer hair cells achieves its specific shape during the period of the tip link maturation.
