Outline of Research at the Start

空間反転対称性や時間反転対称性が破れた磁性体においては電子、フォノン、マグノン等のバンド構造に角運動量が顕在化する。本研究で行うのはこれらの角運動量の相互変化による新現象の開拓を行うことである。これにより、新しい磁気ドメインの制御法やエネルギーハーべスティング法などの物質機能の基礎学理の構築を行う。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this work, we have tried to explore novel phenomena and functionalities induced by the emergent angular momenta of electrons and phonons in noncentrosymmetric materials. We obtained mainly three outcomes: (1) nonreciprocal electronic transport in a metallic 120-degree antiferromagnet PdCrO2, (2) Room temperature chirality control and detection in a helimagnetic MnAu2 thin film, and (3) Imaging an acoustic topological edge mode in a topological phononic crystal with microwave impedance microscopy.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

PdCrO2における非相反伝導の研究は、対称性に敏感な非相反伝導を利用して磁気構造を研究する方法論を示したという意味において一定の学術的な意味を有する。MnAu2のらせん磁性におけるキラリティの制御と検出に関しては、室温でらせん磁性体のキラリティ制御と検出が可能であることを初めて示しており、将来のスピントロニクス応用への可能性を示した。フォノニック結晶におけるトポロジカル端状態の観測は、弾性波の導波路への応用研究へ展開することが期待できる。
