Outline of Research at the Start

群馬県居家以岩陰遺跡で縄文時代早期の埋葬人骨を40～50体程度発掘し、骨考古学先端技術を応用して各個体の年代・性別・推定年齢・出身地、個体間の血縁関係、健康状態と食生活を解明する。埋葬順序・埋葬法などの考古学的情報と合わせて、居家以集団の社会構成と婚姻関係を復元するとともに、葬制の初期様相と死生観を明らかにする。また、堆積する人為的灰層から土壌水洗選別法によって生活廃棄物を網羅的に回収分析し、定住化の過程にあった早期縄文人の資源利用技術、生業活動、食生活を復元する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では縄文時代早期の半定住狩猟採集民社会の復元を通して、完新世初頭（約1万年前）に始まる定住化と社会組織の複雑化がどのように開始したのかという問題に取り組んだ。考古学と人類学が連携した骨考古学の先端技術を駆使し、定住化の過程にあった早期縄文人集団の社会組織と生活史および葬制を復元する計画を立てた。研究対象は、群馬県居家以岩陰遺跡出土の縄文早期の人骨群（8200～8500年前）および動植物遺存体である。
考古学チームは、居家以岩陰遺跡の発掘調査（30日間）を実施する計画を立て、地元関係機関との協議、日程調整、発掘届等の準備を進めたが、重複申請していた基盤研究（Ｓ）が採択されたことから本研究での実施は中止した。
人類学チームは、2019年調査までに出土した縄文早期の居家以人骨の整理分析を進めた。個体ごとに1)出土人骨の同定・個体判別・性別・年齢推定、2)人骨のタフォノミーの精査（人骨の残存度、各骨の破損や割れ方、人為カットマークや打撃痕など）、3)人骨形態による系統・地域性・血縁関係の推定、4)各個体の健康状態の診断（歯の咬耗、虫歯、ストレスマーカーなど）、5)骨コラーゲンの炭素・窒素同位体比による食性分析、6)個別アミノ酸の窒素同位体比による食性分析に着手した。
ＤＮＡチームは、古代ゲノム学の先端技術を用いてこれまでに出土した縄文早期の居家以人骨を分析し、出土人骨のミトコンドリアゲノム・核ゲノム分析を進めた。
考古学チーム・人類学チーム・ＤＮＡチームが役割を分担し本年度の研究計画に添って調査・分析に着手したが、令和３年７月に重複申請していた基盤研究（Ｓ）が採択され研究費の交付を受けたことにより、年度途中から基盤研究（Ｓ）の研究に移行し、本研究課題については廃止手続きをおこなった。
