Outline of Research at the Start

超大規模数値計算と超高精度観測の融合により、ブラックホールジェットの駆動機構と多様性の起源を、ブラックホール降着円盤もろとも解明するのが本研究の目的である。大規模な一般相対論的輻射磁気流体シミュレーションを実施してジェットと円盤を徹底的に調査し、シミュレーション結果をもとにした一般相対論的輻射輸送計算で、偏光分布も含めた撮像イメージおよび輻射スペクトル、それらの時間変動を理論的に予言する。理論予測と最新の観測データを直接比較することで、ジェットの多様な駆動機構を突き止める。宇宙に存在する全てのブラックホール天体の統一的理解、巨大ブラックホールの形成史の解明に向けた基盤的研究である。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

一般相対論的な効果を考慮した多波長輻射輸送コード RAIKOU (来光) を開発した。本コードは、流体シミュレーションによって得られたブラックホール降着円盤やジェットの構造を入力とし、そこから放射されるスペクトルや撮像イメージを計算することが可能である。電波からX線、ガンマ線までの広い波長帯における放射特性を再現できる点が特徴である。テスト計算の一環として、X線で観測されるブラックホールシャドーの構造も予言し、その可視化を行うことに成功した。
また、一般相対論的輻射磁気流体力学シミュレーションを用いて、超エディントン降着状態にある中性子星周囲の降着流とアウトフローの詳細な構造を再現した。降着円盤からは輻射駆動型のアウトフローが発生し、中性子星の磁極付近に降着柱が現れることがわかった。アウトフローは熱的放射の、降着柱はX線パルスの起源と理解できる。この結果をもとに、超高輝度X線パルサー"Swift J0243.6+6124"の観測結果とシミュレーション結果を比較することで、中性子星がもつ双極子磁場の強度が10e13G以下という制限を与えることに成功した。
さらに、一般相対論的磁気流体力学シミュレーションを用いて、ブラックホールジェットの歳差運動を再現することに成功した。この歳差運動はブラックホールのスピンに起因しており、M87において観測されているジェット方向の周期的変化を説明できることを示した。これにより、M87のブラックホールがスピンしていることを裏付ける強力な証拠を理論的に提示した。

Reason

本研究は、ブラックホール降着流およびアウトフローの大局的構造やその観測的特徴を解明することを目的として、数値シミュレーションと輻射輸送計算を組み合わせた手法を推進している。本年度は、昨年度開発した一般相対論的輻射磁気流体力学(GR-RMHD)計算コードに加え、観測と理論モデルの比較に不可欠な一般相対論的輻射輸送計算コードを完成させ、理論と観測の詳細な比較が可能となった。また、一般相対性理論特有の現象である慣性系の引きずりによる降着円盤やジェットの歳差運動をGR-RMHDシミュレーションで再現し、その結果が電波観測データの解釈に貢献したことは特筆すべき成果である。さらに、ブラックホールと並ぶ高密度天体である中性子星をターゲットとしたシミュレーションにも成功し、中心天体の性質が降着流全体の構造に与える影響を調べるための基盤が整った。これらの成果は論文として既に出版されており、学会や研究会での発表も多数行っている。以上より、研究は概ね順調に進行していると判断できる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

大規模な一般相対論的輻射磁気流体力学(GR-RMHD)シミュレーションを駆使し、多様な性質を持つ降着流の構造とダイナミクス、さらには降着流から噴出するアウトフローを網羅的に調査する。併せて、一般相対論的輻射輸送計算を用い、理論モデルと観測との直接比較も継続して行う。また、ブラックホールと中性子星の相違を明らかにするため、磁場を持つ中性子星周囲の降着流の調査も進める。具体的には、本年度に実施した低光度降着流における歳差運動の解析に引き続き、高光度降着流における歳差運動を調査し、ブラックホールスピンによる慣性系の引きずりが輻射駆動型ジェットの方向変化や観測される光度変動にどのように影響を与えるのかを解明する。さらに、計算領域を限界まで拡張したシミュレーションによって、降着円盤の大域的構造を明らかにすることを目指す。磁場構造についても、双極子磁場に加えて四重極子磁場を持つ場合の中性子星降着流の構造調査へと拡張する。加えて、機械学習やGPUを用いた計算コードの効率化も継続的に推進し、より大規模・高精度なシミュレーションの実現を図る。シミュレーションは大須賀(代表者)と髙橋(分担者)が行い、理論モデルとの比較を當真(分担者)が行う。疑似観測の結果と実際の観測データの比較を秦(分担者)が担当する。
