Outline of Research at the Start

太陽フレアやコロナ質量放出などの太陽面爆発現象は太陽対流層で生成された磁束が太陽表面で黒点を形成した後、不安定化する結果として発生し、惑星間空間に大きな影響を与える。しかし、対流層・太陽大気・惑星間空間を繋ぐ物理は未開拓であった。本研究では、この困難を我々が開発した太陽フレア物理予測スキームを軸に各領域の先進モデル群を連結することで克服し、太陽・太陽圏を包括した爆発現象の全体像を初めて明らかにする。これにより、①太陽面爆発の早期予測を実現すると共に、②フレアの規模と頻度のべき乗則の原因を解明し、③太陽フレアの最大限界を決定する物理を解明することで、宇宙環境変動の理解と予測を格段に発展させる。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

太陽内部（対流層）でのダイナモ過程で生成された磁束が太陽表面を貫いて黒点を形成した後、太陽大気中で不安定化する結果として発生する太陽面爆発現象を包括的に理解するため、太陽内部と太陽コロナ及び惑星間空間の結合モデルの開発を順調に進めている。特に、太陽表面を通してコロナへ注入される磁場のエネルギーとヘリシティと太陽内部の乱流との関係について数値シミュレーション用いて研究し、対流層中の乱流が中型フレアの発生に十分な自由エネルギーをコロナへ入射できることを初めて見出した。また、太陽表面の観測データに基づく電磁流体シミュレーションを行い、太陽フレアとプラズマ放出現象の再現に成功すると共に、プラズマ放出を予測するための新たな方法を開発した。これらの成果は太陽内部と外部の連結過程の理解のみならず、宇宙天気擾乱の原因となるコロナ質量放出（CME）の発生予測にも貢献する成果である。さらに、太陽内部の流れや大規模な子午面循環を数値シミュレーション、機械学習、観測の連携を通して探る研究を進めると共に、太陽表面運動とコロナ加熱及びフィラメント形成との関係を探るシミュレーション研究も行った。一方、2024年5月に発生した強い宇宙天気擾乱現象について、太陽から地球に至る様々な観測結果を総合的に報告する論文を世界に先駆けて出版した。全般として太陽内部とコロナ及び惑星間空間を含む総合的な研究を先導する研究成果を生み出し続けている。

Reason

太陽面爆発現象は太陽表面を通してコロナへ入射された磁気エネルギーが不安定化して、爆発的にエネルギーを開放する現象である。対流層とコロナの結合過程を中心として、そのメカニズムを解明するための多面的な研究を着実に進めた。まず、対流層内部の子午面循環の構造を数値シミュレーションの結果に基づいて太陽表面の観測から特定する方法を開発し、それを用いて内部流れ構造についての知見を与えた(Hatta et al. 2024)。また、数値シミュレーションの計算結果から対流層内部の流れを機械学習を用いて推定する方法を開発した（Masaki and Hotta 2024）。太陽内部からコロナへの磁気ヘリシティ入射に関しては、数値シミュレーションによって対流層内部の乱流効果が中型フレアを発生させるエネルギーをコロナに入射することを見出した(Toriumi et al. 2024)。また、太陽表面磁場の観測データを境界条件として利用するデータ駆動型電磁流体シミュレーションを開発し、フレアとプラズマ放出の発生を再現することに成功した（Kang et al. 2024）。プロミネンス形成機構（Yoshihisa et al. 2024）、磁力線の巻き上げ（磁気トルネイド）によるコロナ加熱効果（Kuniyoshi et al. 2024）についてもシミュレーション研究を進めた。さらに、2024年5月に発生した激しい宇宙天気現象について太陽から地球に至る包括的な観測結果の報告論文を出版した（Hayakawa et al. 2024）。2025年3月に国際研究集会ISEE Symposium “Frontier of Space-Earth Environmental Research as Predictive Science”を開催し、予測研究に関連した本研究の成果について議論を行った。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでに進めた太陽対流層から太陽表面、太陽コロナ、惑星間空間へ至る磁場とエネルギーの輸送過程に関するシミュレーション研究を総括し、対流層から惑星間空間を包括した太陽面爆発現象の総合的な理解を得るための研究を進める。そのため、第一に差動回転・子午面流が存在する状況での対流層の底部から太陽表面までの磁束浮上の詳細をシミュレーションで解明すると共に、それに伴うコロナへのエネルギー入射のメカニズムを明らかにする。第二に、太陽表面磁場の構造から様々なフレアが発生する条件をデータ解析とシミュレーションの相互比較により特定し、その結果をもとにフレア発生予測スキーム（κスキーム）を改良することで、フレア予測精度を格段に高める。第三に、内部太陽圏モデル（SUSANOO）の内部境界を太陽表面に拡張することで、コロナ質量放出のダイナミクスを内部コロナから惑星間空間まで連続して追跡する。その結果をもとにCME前面の衝撃波で加速された高エネルギー粒子の輸送をモデル化し、太陽高エネルギー粒子（SEP）事象の発生条件を見出す。それらを衛星観測と比較することでSEP事象予測に貢献する。最終的にこれらの知見を総合することで、宇宙天気予測能力を高めると共に太陽と共に様々な恒星の爆発現象の理解に資する知見を与える。
