Outline of Research at the Start

「化学反応が起こる時に分子に何が起こっているのか」は現代化学の中心的謎の一つである。反応ダイナミクスはこの謎を解き明かしていく分野である。これまで反応ダイナミクスに対する実験的知見の大部分は、気相反応の研究から得たものに限られている。化学反応の圧倒的多数を占める溶液反応のダイナミクスの実験的解明は、溶液中の小さい分子を直接に操作する実験手段が欠如しているため、最大の挑戦になっている。そこで本研究では、研究代表者が構想し、世界に先駆けて確立した「１分子制御化学」という溶液中単一小分子の操作技術を駆使して、この最大の挑戦課題を解決する。
