Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study developed advanced visualization techniques for the precise analysis of 3D scanned data from real-world structures such as cultural heritage sites and social infrastructure. First, we developed a rendering method that makes measurement noise invisible while preserving photorealistic visualization. Second, we improved the visibility of 3D structures through dual-edge visualization that distinguishes and emphasizes both sharp and rounded edges. Third, we proposed a method that uses old photographs and deep learning to reconstruct hidden shapes of relief-type cultural artifacts, and demonstrated its effectiveness on the Borobudur Temple. Fourth, we enhanced depth perception in transparent visualization by adjusting edge opacity according to depth. Collectively, these techniques contribute to better understanding and analysis of real-world structures.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
