Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は,前主系列星期から現在に至る46億年間の太陽活動の変遷を解明することである.そのために,46億年前に太陽風照射されたガスリッチ炭素質隕石;40億年前,30億年前,20億年前,10億年前,1億年前に太陽風照射された月面レゴリス;百万年前に太陽風照射された小惑星イトカワ粒子の分析を行う.これらの分析結果から解析されるkeVレベルからMeVレベルに至る運動エネルギーをもつ粒子放射スペクトルの比較により,太陽活動の経年変化を解明する.本研究は未踏の新規研究分野であり,その成果は恒星の進化を探るのみならず,原始惑星系円盤進化,惑星進化,宇宙風化,宇宙天気などの理解に向けて大きな意味を持つ.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は,前主系列星期から現在に至る46億年間の太陽活動の変遷を解明することである.そのために,46億年前に太陽風照射されたガスリッチ炭素質隕石;40億年前,30億年前,20億年前,10億年前,1億年前に太陽風照射された月面レゴリス;百万年前に太陽風照射された小惑星イトカワ粒子の分析を行う.これらの分析結果から解析されるkeVレベルからMeVレベルに至る運動エネルギーをもつ粒子放射スペクトルの比較により,太陽活動の経年変化を解明する.本研究は未踏の新規研究分野であり,その成果は恒星の進化を探るのみならず,原始惑星系円盤進化,惑星進化,宇宙風化,宇宙天気などの理解に向けて大きな意味を持つ.本年度は以下の研究成果が得られた.
1.小惑星イトカワ粒子中に記録される太陽活動:百万年前までの太陽活動をJAXAはやぶさ探査機が持ち帰った小惑星イトカワ粒子から解読することを続けた.1粒子より太陽風Heのエネルギー分布が分析され,現在観測されている最も大きい太陽嵐の約10倍の太陽嵐が起こったことを見つけた.
2.月レゴリス中に記録される太陽活動:1億年前までの太陽活動をNASAアポロ計画により持ち帰った月レゴリス71501のイルメナイト粒子から解読を続けた.Ne同位体を新たに測定できるようになり,太陽風注入に起きる同位体分別作用を直接測定することに世界で初めて成功した.また,高エネルギー太陽活動の存在を示唆する分析が蓄積されつつある.新たに40億年前の太陽活動の解読を月レゴリス14301のイルメナイトを用い開始した.
3.隕石中に記録される太陽活動:ガスリッチ炭素質隕石NWA 801の希ガスの隕石内分布を分析した.この隕石からはMeVからKeVの高エネルギーの希ガス照射を示す痕跡が得られていない.新たに炭素質隕石MIL090657の分析より,MeVオーダーの太陽宇宙線の照射が認められる鉱物を見つけた.NASA小惑星探査により持ち帰られた小惑星ベンヌ試料の分析を行った.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

研究計画に従い,イトカワ粒子と月レゴリス試料から太陽風希ガスのイオン注入プロファイルを取得し,500万年前と1億年前の太陽風のエネルギー分布を解析した.それにより,100万年前までの間に現在より約10倍大きな太陽嵐が起こった時代があったことがわかった.次に,開発した同位体ナノスコープの広領域イメージング分析法により,ガスリッチ炭素質隕石のマトリックス部に太陽風Heが注入され不均質に分布していることがわかった.この中から原始太陽のスーパーフレアの痕跡は見つかっていない.以上の進捗は,当初の研究計画に基づき進捗している成果である.また,新しい炭素質隕石を分析することにより,原始太陽のスーパーフレアを記録している鉱物が見つかった.今後は,これらの太古の太陽風を保持する粒子の希ガス分布を詳細に解析するとともに,新しい試料を測定することで,各時代の太陽風のエネルギーと照射量を見積もることができると考えている.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

1.小惑星イトカワ粒子中に記録される太陽活動:百万年前までの太陽活動をJAXAはやぶさ探査機が持ち帰った小惑星イトカワ粒子から解読することを続ける.次年度も,高エネルギーHeイオンの注入に注目し,太陽のCMEの活動とその頻度を研究する.
2.月レゴリス中に記録される太陽活動:1億年前までの太陽活動をNASAアポロ計画により持ち帰った月レゴリス71501のイルメナイト粒子から解読することを続ける.40億年前の太陽活動の解読を月レゴリス14301のイルメナイトを用い粒子から解読することを続ける.次年度も,CME活動のエネルギー分布を求め,現在のものとの比較をする.
3.隕石中に記録される太陽活動:広領域イメージングシステムによりガスリッチ炭素質隕石NWA 801の希ガスの隕石内分布を研究することを続ける.NASA小惑星探査計画で持ち帰られる小惑星ベンヌ試料の分析を続ける.
以上により得られる新しい成果の議論により,本研究課題の核心をなす問い「過去に太陽はスーパーフレアを起こしたのか?」に解答することを目指す.
