Outline of Research at the Start |
The Dof1.7 encoding plant-specific Dof transcription factor was previously suggested to be involved in NIGT1-mediated nitrogen (N) starvation responses. The aim of this study is to elucidate the physiological functions of Dof1.7 in N starvation responses and related regulatory mechanisms.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the first year, I have revealed that in model plant Arabidopsis, NIGT1 transcription factors, key regulators for N deficiency responses, directly repressed transcription of Dof1.7, and also revealed that knockout mutation of NIGT1 and Dof1.7 differentially affected the expression of three NRT2 genes encoding high-affinity nitrate transporters. In the second year, I examined the transcriptional relationship between Dof1.7 and the three NRT2 genes by ChIP and co-transfection assay and revealed that Dof1.7 directly activated the NRT2.5 promoter and indirectly activated the NRT2.4 promoter with the presence of NIGT1.1. I have completed a manuscript of this series of research and am preparing it for publication in a high-rank international journal.
