本研究「イエズス会布教活動から紐解くジェイムズ・ジョイスの東方への旅」は、５ヵ年計画で、基本的に年1回以上の学会発表と論文発表を行い、研究成果を積み重ねていく。また、国内外の関連研究会等も積極的に参加する予定である。パンデミックのため、学会・研究会はZoomが世界的に活用されており、コストもかなり抑えられている。コロナ収束次第、国内外での学会発表、図書館・研究施設等で資料収集を行う予定である。

2023年度は1つの国際学会、すなわちThe 10th International James Joyce Conference in Korea: “Joyce, Postnationalism and Beyond”において、"'But I say: Let my country die for me' (U 15.4473) : Psonationalism and the Jesuit Adaptation of Joyce and Vico"で口頭発表した。主催者である韓国ジェイムズ・ジョイス協会は、東アジアはまだコロナ禍であるという判断で、対面開催を強行せず、安全策をとってZoomによるオンライン開催であった。この配慮により、韓国、中国、台湾、アイルランド等より多くの研究者の参加が可能になった。
年末には、上記の発表原稿を大幅に加筆修正の上、韓国ジェイムズ・ジョイス協会機関誌James Joyce Journalに投稿、無事査読を通過し、同誌 vol. 29, no. 2 (Winter 2023)に"'But I say: Let my country die for me' (U 15.4473) : Psonationalism and the Jesuit Adaptation of Joyce and Vico"という題目で掲載された。
その他に論文合計2件書き上げ、1件は2024年内に東京の金星堂から出版予定、1件は中国で査読中である。詳細については、出版後に報告予定である。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
国際学会発表を1件、それに基づいた学術論文1点という発表成果ではあるが、それに加えて、日本語で1本、英語で1本論文を書き上げ、前者は2024年度内に出版される論文集に掲載予定であり、後者は中国で査読中である。
春休み期間には、京都大学・金城学院大学で研究会に出席、そしてジョイス関連資料が充実している京都ノートルダム女子大学図書館で資料収集等を行うことが出来た。今後さらに研究活動が充実していくことが予想される。

2024年は、6月中旬にスコットランドのグラスゴー大学で開催されるXXIX International James Joyce Symposium: "Across the Waters"で"Some Scottish Elements in Joyce: Glasgow, Edinburgh and St. Aloysius Gonzaga"という題目で口頭発表、8月上旬に学習院大学で開催される国際アイルランド文学学会The Annual IASIL ConferenceL 2024: "Aftermaths"において、"An Aftermath of the Canonization of John Henry Newman: The UCD Line of Newman, Hopkins and Joyce"という題目で口頭発表予定である。これら２つの発表原稿をそれぞれ加筆修正して、論文として発表予定である。
