Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study investigated the experience of flow in extensive reading among English learners majoring in English Language and Culture at a Japanese university. The findings suggest that: (1) English learners tend not to experience flow in English reading prior to engaging in extensive reading; (2) through the experience of extensive reading, many learners come to experience flow in English reading; (3) the experience of flow correlates positively with extensive reading behavior; (4) flow experience has a positive impact on English reading; and (5) learners who are more likely to experience flow tend to perceive English reading as having both intellectual and practical value, as well as being comfortable.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
