Outline of Research at the Start |
The research will shed light on key questions about the significance of including human capital development in microfinance programs providing financial capital to micro-entrepreneurs in achieving social objectives. Quantifiable impact measurements will inform policymakers and practitioners.
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This academic year, 令和5年度・AY2023 (4/2023-3/2024), preliminary quantitative and qualitative analysis results were written up as an academic study. That study was shared with the board of the partner microfinance institution for feedback. Feedback from the board was incorporated into revised empirical analysis and written communication of the results of the analysis. The results of the analysis of the pilot year program were shared orally at a panel discussion organized at International Christian University on Accelerators for Sustainable Transformation. I contributed to the discussion from the perspective of the Accelerator function of the “Entrepreneurial Mindset”. The results of the analysis of the pilot year program were communicated in written format as they were published as a book chapter.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
The coronavirus pandemic and political instability made the original research proposal, which involved field work in Sri Lanka, impossible to carry out as planned. An alternative microfinance organization was identified for study. However, the pandemic resulted in a smaller number of participants in the pilot year of that program than anticipated.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Further field work with the current partner institution, this time studying the first year of the program and planned. Field work may include contact with another alternative collaborating partner.
