| Outline of Research at the Start |
2021年度は、全国の被差別部落の識字教室を対象として質問紙調査を実施する。 2021年度は、全国の被差別部落の識字教室を対象として質問紙調査を実施する。これは、2010年度に実施した質問紙調査、および2011年度に実施した訪問聞き取り調査をふまえてこれまでと比較するものである。
2022年度には、質問紙調査の結果をふまえて特徴的な識字教室を抽出し、それらの教室に訪問のうえインタビューなどを行う調査を実施する。
2023年度には、前年に行う識字教室への訪問調査等で得られた資料・教材を分析するとともに、韓国等諸外国の成人基礎教育との比較調査を行う。資料を収集するとともに、訪問調査も位置づける。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research revealed the following. (1) The number of literacy classes nationwide has not changed much since 2010, standing at approximately 200. (2) The content of activities has expanded to include involvement in community activities and cultural and creative activities, while focusing on literacy and reflecting on one's life in relation to society. (3) The impact of the COVID19 was also significant, forcing many classes to be suspended. In the future, it will be necessary to incorporate ICT and other technologies based on the lessons learned from this situation. Such surveys have not been conducted for literacy classes and local Japanese language classes outside of the discriminated groups. This survey contains a number of matters that would be helpful in conducting a nationwide survey of such a wide range of literacy and Japanese language classes. We made a proposal to build the System of Adult Basic Education in Japan. It should be considered as an issue for the future.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
被差別部落で展開されている識字学級について、その全体像を把握しようとする本調査のような調査研究は、被差別部落以外の識字学級や地域日本語教室について行われてこなかった。今回の調査は、そのような幅広い識字・日本語教室の全国調査を実施するうえで、参考になる事柄を数多く含んでいる。成人基礎教育制度の創造と確立が求められている。今後の課題として考えるべきである。韓国での識字学級や識字センター、識字能力調査などについて調査し、日本と比較しようとした調査も、限られている。われわれはそのための提言をまとめた。日本における今後の成人基礎教育制度確立に資することを期待したい。
