平成29(2017)年に改正された『幼稚園教育要領』及び『保育所保育指針』等では、組織的に園の取り組みを評価、改善し保育の質の向上に努めることが明記された。またこの改正によって領域「環境」の内容に新しく「日常生活の中で我が国や地域社会における様々な文化や伝統に親しむ」と加えられた。しかし近年保育現場では、本来大切にすべきである子どもの「地域への親しみを育む」こと及びそのための実践についてあまり意識されていない。
この研究においては、保育の質向上のため、保育施設が「地域への親しみを育む」ための保育実践に対する問題点や課題を意識することができ、そうした実践を可能とする評価項目のモデルを作成する。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The research was conducted at Certified Children's Centers in Japan to reveal how childcare facilities have contact with the local community, and how they do self-assessment about nursing practices. As a result, although more than 90% of children's centers carried out the self-assessment, less than half of them included the evaluation items about the local community. Also, they did not consider having relations with the local community as one part of nurturing activities. Fieldwork research was done in three children's centers to compile evaluation models. The research found the structure of how they raise familiarity with locals, but the structures have nothing in common. Therefore evaluation models cannot be created.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
保育施設において地域資源を活用した実践は多く行われているという現状はあるものの、子どもたちの地域への親しみを育むことが目的とされていることは少ない。本研究課題においてフィールドワークから導いた３園の地域に対する意識および保育の構造は、保育実践に関して多くの示唆を含むものである。保育施設が自園のある地域の地域性を考慮し、3つ中からその園にあった構造を応用し、実践を重ねることによって、子どもたちの地域への親しみを育むことが可能となると考えられる。
