Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では, 強い相互作用の相図の描像と関連している高密度領域の状態方程式はどのようなものか?という「問い」に対して, 重力波データ解析による状態方程式の探索を提案し, 実データ解析へと応用する. (A)連星中性子星合体の重力波からの状態方程式の情報の抽出, (B)強い相互作用の相図の探究 と2つの目的を設定する. 目的(A)のため, (a-1)重力波データ解析コードの開発, (a-2)動的な潮汐効果のインパクトの調査, を行い, 目的(B)のため, (b-1)状態方程式モデルの区別可能性の調査, (b-2)階層ベイズ推定による複数イベントからの状態方程式の制限, を行う.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、(A) 連星中性子星合体の重力波からの状態方程式の情報の抽出、と(B) 強い相互作用の相図の探究、からなる。
(A): 重力波波形モデルの改良と実イベント解析への応用を行い、研究発表や論文として成果をまとめた。また、依頼により、これらの成果を日本物理学会誌に最近の研究として紹介する記事を執筆中である。
ポスト・ニュートニアン (PN) 近似は理論的に堅くかつコンパクト連星合体の重力波波形を実効的に記述できるため、最も基本的なモデルとして、重力波データ解析に使われている。Henry, Faye, Blanchet (2020) によって、PN近似による重力波波形の断熱的潮汐効果がアップデートされた。我々は、前年度に作成した主要な効果(質量4重極、PNTidalと名付けた)に加えて、副次的な効果である、カレント4重極と質量8重極効果に注目した。元の波形を解析に便利なように従来用いられている潮汐変形率の関数として書き直し、これをMultipoleTidalと名付けた。
続いて、MultipoleTidalを連星中性子星合体からの重力波GW170817とGW190425の解析に応用した。PNTidalとMultipoleTidalとNRTidalv2(数値相対論較正モデル)を比較し、波形モデル間の系統誤差よりも統計誤差が大きく、多重極潮汐効果の潮汐変形率の推定への影響は顕著ではないことを明らかにした。一方で、与えられた潮汐変形率に対する位相変化の度合いは、PNTidal、MultipoleTidal、NRTidalv2の順に大きい。実際、潮汐変形率の最大事後確率推定値は、この順に大きく、位相進化と無矛盾の傾向が見られることを示した。また、中性子星の状態方程式モデルの制限も行い、柔らかい状態方程式モデルが整合的であることを示した。

Reason

当初、多重極潮汐効果には注目しておらず、主要な潮汐効果(質量4重極)のみに注目していた。
これまで作成されていた数値相対論較正モデルもほとんどが、質量4重極のみに注目し、ポストニュートン(PN)波形に実効的に高次PN次の補正を加えるというアプローチを取っていたこともある。
当初、多重極効果の定式化は難しいと思っていたが、取り掛かってみると、数学的に美しく整理できることがわかり、最終的には質量4重極のPNTidalと同様に定式化することに成功し、MultipoleTidalと名付けた。
実際の重力波の解析に応用してみると、GW170817の信号雑音比が十分大きくないため、統計誤差が大きいが、位相進化から予想された通りの傾向が現れていた。
今回のPN波形に関する定式化による成果から、多重極潮汐効果は波形の改良に重要となるであろうことが示唆される。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

連星中性子星合体からの重力波の波形モデルの改良に取り組む。
ポストニュートン近似での、動的潮汐効果、スピンー潮汐結合効果、回転潮汐効果の寄与についてまとめる。
また、多重極潮汐効果と上記の副次的な効果を考慮して、数値相対論較正モデルの改良に取り組む。
作成した波形モデルを中性子星の状態方程式の制限に応用する。
連星中性子星の合体期以降に放出される重力波についても注目し、波形モデルの改良に取り組み、状態方程式の制限に応用する。
