Outline of Research at the Start

Eコンドライトの地球の原材料物質との関連性が高まっている。地球の化学組成を明らかにするには、Eコンドライトの形成過程の理解が不可欠である。このためには、再現実験が鍵となる。Eコンドライト中のコンドリュールの主な構成鉱物は輝石で、強還元的な鉱物を含む。この輝石コンドリュールはSiOガスの下で形成することを研究代表者は実験的に示した。これによりSi同位体比の変化が予測できる。この隕石のMg/Si原子比は太陽系元素存在度の値より小さい。強還元下で輝石の硫化反応が進行し、Mg/Si比が低下した。本課題は太陽系形成期における輝石コンドリュールのSi同位体変動と輝石の硫化メカニズムを実験的に探る。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

エンスタタイトコンドライトには、ニニンジェライトやオルダマイトなど還元性の高い鉱物が多産する。これらは極めて低い酸素圧で高い硫黄圧の下、Mg珪酸塩の硫化反応により形成した。FleetとMacRae(1987)による先駆的実験を参考に、出発物質としてマグネシウムに富むかんらん石(サンカルロスオリビン)の単結晶を、硫黄ガス源および硫黄分圧バッファーとして、ピロータイトの単結晶を準備し、これらを各々グラファイト容器に入れて、一つの石英ガラス管に真空封入した。これを1200Cで79時間と1280Cで72時間の加熱を行った。石英管周囲を還元的にするためにアルゴンガスを流した。出発物質のサンカルロスオリビンを取り囲んでニニンジェライトとシリカが形成した。またサンカルロスオリビンと生成物(ニニンジェライトとシリカ)との境界にはエンスタタイトの薄層が2次的に形成した。エンスタタイトおよびディオプサイドの各単結晶でも実施した。また、ピロータイトの代わりにトロイライトの単結晶でも行った。トロイライトでは、1340Cと1430Cで実施した。ピロータイトを用いた時より高い反応温度を必要とするため、高温での石英管の破損を防ぐ二重真空封入法を導入した。さらにMg珪酸塩を炭素質コンドライトに変え、トロイライトをバッファーとして二重真空封入法にて、1430Cで100C/hでコンドリュール合成を行った。この中にニニンジェライトとオルダマイトを確認できた。また、この形成したコンドリュール形状組織は、エンスタタイトコンドライトのタイプIB型のコンドリュールと一致した。これは石英管内でシリカに富むガスが生成するためである。これによりエンスタタイトコンドライトのタイプIB型のコンドリュール形成過程を実験的に再現できることがわかった。実験結果の一部は、極域科学シンポジウムで英語による口頭発表を行った。

リュウグウ試料分析と論文化を当年度6月頃に終えたために、本格的に当申請課題を開始することができた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

一連の実験結果は次年度に地球惑星関連学会で口頭発表予定である。また英語による論文化を進める。エンスタタイトコンドライトにはニニンジェライトやオルダマイト以外にも還元性の高い鉱物が多種存在する。シュライバーサイトやペリアイトといった燐化鉄ニッケル合金の再現やカマサイト中の高いケイ素やクロム含有量の再現、などが対象になる。酸素分圧と硫黄分圧を制御して、さらに還元的な環境も実験的に上記の特異な鉱物の再現を試みる。
