Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study focused on inflammation as a key mechanism in the progression of heatstroke severity and aimed to establish an early, objective severity assessment method. The investigation was conducted through three approaches: a rat model, clinical research, and exercise monitoring in healthy individuals. IL-18 was not useful as a biomarker. HMGB1 showed a significant association with neurological outcomes and was considered a promising biomarker. Urinary L-FABP showed partial correlation with neurological outcomes, but its utility was limited. Smart clothing proved effective for objectively assessing fatigue in hot environments and is expected to be applicable for prehospital severity evaluation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
