Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
Rats were divided into sham, atrophy, and recovery groups. In the atrophy group, both ureters were cut and bilateral ureterovaginal anastomosis was performed. On day84, urodynamics study was performed and the bladder was excised in the atrophy group, and in the recovery group, an ureter was re-anastomosed to the atrophic bladder. In the recovery group, urodynamics study was performed and the bladder was excised on day105. For the sham, atrophy, and recovery groups on days0,84, the bladder capacity and compliance were significantly lower in the atrophy group and recovery group on day84 compared to day0. In addition, the recovery group had significantly recovered bladder capacity and compliance on day105. The smooth muscle/interstitial ratio was significantly lower in the atrophy group compared to the sham group, and significantly higher in the recovery group compared to the atrophy group. RNAseq was performed and gene expression changes observed in rabbits were also observed in rats.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
