Outline of Research at the Start

申請者らはこれまで、下咽頭がんのがん幹細胞マーカーとしてCD271を見出し、CD271陽性細胞を標的とすることで、in vivoでの腫瘍抑制効果が得られることを明らかにしてきた。
本申請では、未だ解明されていない１．下咽頭がんを悪性化させるCD271下流経路を明らかとし、２．経路・分子阻害による下咽頭がん抑制効果を検証し、３．正常細胞への影響を確認する。明らかとした経路・関連分子について、４．下咽頭がん患者予後の解析を行う。以上から、よりがん特異的な下咽頭がん治療標的・経路を見出すことを目指している。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

We have previously discovered CD271 as a cancer stem cell marker for hypopharyngeal cancer and demonstrated that targeting CD271-positive cells can achieve tumor suppression in vivo. In this project, we will identify CD271-related cancer-specific proliferation pathways and establish the responsible factors and pathways to apply as a new therapeutic target for hypopharyngeal cancer. As a result, we identified two new responsible factors.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

下咽頭癌はその機能的重要性も相まって治療困難な癌種である。私たちは新しい治療標的を探るために、CD271という分子に着目して研究を実施してきた。CD271は下咽頭癌の増殖に重要であることがわかっていたが、本課題ではその下流分子の同定に成功した。今後も知見を重ね、下流分子の阻害剤を開発していく。
