Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aimed to clarify the effects of viewing tilting Virtual Reality (VR) images on body center of gravity in both younger and older adults and to apply this to the development of more effective balance training using VR images for older adults with lower risk of falling. In a study targeting healthy younger individuals, we confirmed whether tilting VR images induce body sway during quiet standing posture, and in a study targeting both healthy younger and older adults, we verified the effect of VR images on body sway in older adults. As a result, the changes in body center of gravity were greater in older adults compared to younger ones. This suggests that it can be a method to provide balance training for older adults that induces significant body sway without requiring physical movements.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
