Outline of Research at the Start	本研究では、英語中級者による英語ライティングに焦点を合わせる。インターネット上の無料の機械翻訳(MT)を利用した際に直面する言語関連の問題を抽出し、MT活用前の母語使用に関する表現法の類型化を段階的に図る試みである。どのような和文を作成すれば、人間の脳内、且つ、MTで英語に変換しやすくなるのか。MTプロセスで形成・発展してきた制限用法に関する研究の知見を援用し、MT訳出精度の発展を踏まえつつ、日本固有のコミュニケーション作法が反映された言語表現の複雑性・曖昧性・冗長性などを緩和するための表現法を理論的・実証的に検討し、実践に還元することは重要な研究課題である。
