Outline of Research at the Start |
Government officials in many developing countries are concerned about the consequences of a currency appreciation on exports. The proposed project aims to revisit the causal effect of exchange rate changes on exports and will further explore whether distortions may alter the impact of trade elasticity of exchange rate. The project will provide insightful policy implications for explaining the interaction between exchange rate and distortions. It will improve our understanding of how to effectively implement exchange rate policy in developing countries.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year, I primarily completed the empirical analysis and obtained preliminary results. A working paper draft is nearly finished. Additionally, I invited Professor Ernest Liu from Princeton University to visit Chuo University. During Professor Liu's stay in Japan, we held several research meetings to discuss model construction, key variables, and empirical methodologies. His valuable insights significantly contributed to the improvement of my research.

Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Due to personal health conditions and family circumstances, the progress of my research has been delayed.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plan to re-examine the results and conduct additional robustness checks. I also aim to complete the working paper and present the findings at academic conferences and workshops both in Japan and overseas.
