Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、「国際共修」に着目し、「留学生と地域住民とのコミュニティ形成を促す国際共修の教育的効果とその成功要因」の解明を目的としている。具体的には、大阪大学周辺にある2つの商店街でのインターンシップやアクティビティを通して、①留学生と地域住民の交流が双方に与える教育的効果、②留学生と地域住民とのコミュニティ形成を促進する成功要因、③地域の包摂的な環境づくりの促進要因、について留学生と地域住民を対象とした面接調査を実施し、修正版グラウンデッド・セオリー・アプローチ(M-GTA)を用いて解明する。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

Regarding "International Collaborative Learning to Promote Community Building between International Students and Local Residents," we investigated the (1) educational effects, (2) success factors in community building, and (3) factors that promote the creation of an inclusive environment in the local community. The results showed that international students' participation in off-campus communities and dialogue with local residents had the following educational effects: increased interest in social issues, acquisition of a place outside the university, and influence on their future plans. The study also suggested the importance of having "Regional Agents" to connect international students and local residents as a facilitating factor for community building and creating an inclusive environment in this course.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究からは、留学生との継続的な交流により、地域住民が国際交流経験を得ること、特に若い世代の将来設計に影響していることが明らかとなった。また、留学生側は、自身も言語的ハンディキャップを抱える立場で日本の様々な社会福祉施設を訪問し、そこで活動する地域住民と交流することで、留学生の内面の変化、地域での居場所の獲得、将来設計への影響等の結果が得られた。このように、まだ先行研究が少ない「地域と連携した国際共修」研究に、対話を取り入れた新しい国際共修モデルを提示することができた。さらに、地域住民と留学生の相互の学びを促す「地域エージェント」という概念を創出し、社会的にも有意義な研究結果が得られた。
