Outline of Research at the Start

This study examines the gender and rural-urban learning achievements gap in francophone SSA countries. It decomposes the gap into the tangible and intangible factors that explain it. It uses RIF decomposition and PASEC 2014 and 2019 data. It will be a pioneer to explain these gaps in SSA countries.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The current research project was initally delayed, but I was able to make some progress. The research design and the analysis were improved, allowing me to present the findings at an international conference. Moreover, the explanation of gender inequalities in learning outcomes was used to write a book. The manuscript of the book was submitted to Kakenhi for the application of a grant for research publication.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

The research progressed rather smoothly because I was able to reach the milestones I expected to reach this fiscal year. For example, I wanted to compile one part of the research into a book, which I have been able to do.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

I plan to compile the analysis on rural-urban inequalities into research article or a book for publication, depending on factors like time and availibility of funds. I plan to present the overall findings at a conference, or if budget allows me, organize an event (e.g., a workshop) where I can share the research findings with ministry of education officials in one of the countries investigated.
