Outline of Research at the Start

放射線治療を行うにあたりCT画像上で腫瘍の存在範囲を設定する必要があるが、膀胱などの管腔臓器の表層に存在する腫瘍は視覚的に認識することが困難である。本研究では人工知能を用いて腫瘍と正常範囲を識別するセグメンテーション技術に着目し、表在性の腫瘍を自動描出する技術を開発することで放射線治療の精度を向上することを目的とする。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In order to perform radiation therapy, it is essential to accurately localize the tumor on CT images. However, for superficial tumors arising in thin, membranous organs such as the bladder, precise localization on CT images is challenging. This study aimed to delineate the extent of such tumors using artificial intelligence (AI). Although the dataset available for AI training was insufficient, we developed a method to accurately identify tumor location using a technique known as deformable registration, and subsequently standardized this method into a manual protocol.

近年は変形レジストレーション機能を搭載したソフトウェアが普及しているため、本研究の成果により、膀胱癌に対する放射線治療の精度が向上することが期待されます。また、マニュアル化されていることで施設間の技術の差を減らし、臨床試験を行う際にも有用であると考えられます。
