| Outline of Research at the Start |
静脈血栓塞栓症は、罹患率が年々増加し、また新しい治療薬が登場し、診療に大きな変化が見られた。その結果、現在どのような問題点や課題点が存在し、今後どのような対策が望まれるかという事が大きな問題となりつつある。しかしながら、我が国では、現在に於けるその実態を調査した大規模な患者登録研究は存在しない。そこで、その診療実態および予後を明らかにする事を目的に、静脈血栓塞栓症の患者を登録した多施設共同の大規模な観察研究を実施する事とした。本研究の結果として、我が国独自の発症予防法や治療法の提案に繋がる可能性が期待される。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We were able to conduct a large-scale, multi-center study as planned. We succeeded in constructing a database, and the main analysis was published as planned. This research has led to progress in various studies and has been used to improve the treatment of venous thromboembolism in Japan.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
地震の際の車中泊時にも知られるエコノミークラス症候群として重要な静脈血栓塞栓症の現在の治療実態や予後を明らかにする事ができた。大規模な観察研究は、現在の本領域での問題点に加えて、今後の本領域の研究の進む方向性なども明らかにする事が出来、大変貴重な研究とする事が出来た。
