Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
A prospective cohort study was conducted to examine the association between using accelerometer-measured physical activity and health outcomes among community-dwelling older adults. Physical activity was categorized by intensity: sedentary behavior (SB), light-intensity physical activity (LPA), and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). The results showed that higher levels of MVPA were associated with a reduced risk of mortality and long-term care. In contrast, no significant associations were observed between SB or LA and these risks. In addition, baseline levels of physical activity were not associated with changes in cognitive function (hippocampal volume, measured by magnetic resonance imaging) or declines in physical function (frailty progression).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
