Outline of Research at the Start	自閉スペクトラム症者の多くが、手や足の異なる動きを適切に組み合わせて行う協調運動に困難を抱えており、臨床では手や足の動きが意図せずに同期してしまう様子が観察される。先行研究では、脳の補足運動野（SMA）が手足の同期を防ぐ役割をもつことが示唆されており、さらに、我々は以前にSMAに含まれる抑制性神経伝達物質（GABA）の減少が協調運動スキルの低下と関連することを発見した。これらのことから、自閉症者ではSMAのGABA減少により抑制機能が低下し、手足の動きを独立させることが困難になっている可能性がある。本研究では、SMAのGABA減少に起因して手足の協調運動の困難が生じるメカニズムを明らかにする。
