Outline of Research at the Start |
The goal of this project is to propose a distributed ledger mechanism in IoT that can be enforced by any resource-limited entities efficiently, test their characteristics and, finally implement a lightweight distributed ledger mechanism in IoT that stands out as best for IoMT system.
|
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The main goal of this project is to design a lightweight distributed ledger for the Internet of Medical Things. To address this goal, we should (1) present a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art distributed ledger technologies in the context of IoT. Based on this survey, we should (2) identify some initial attempts towards a distributed ledger in IoT that can be enforced by any resource-limited entities efficiently because, in IoT applications, terminal sensors are usually resource-constrained, limiting the direct adoption of expensive cryptographic primitives. Finally, we should (3) develop a lightweight distributed ledger for IoMT. This year, we investigated the integration of blockchain and edge computing in IoT and published it in the journal "Future Generation Computer Systems." Additionally, to securely communicate and efficiently protect image data in wireless networks, we proposed a blockchain-based secure and efficient secret image-sharing scheme published in "IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications." Furthermore, we also explored a blockchain-based scheme for secure data offloading in healthcare with deep reinforcement learning.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
So far, we have achieved the core objectives of this project. However, due to COVID-19 and other unforeseen circumstances, the Principal Investigator needs additional time to publish the research results in top-tier journals and engage with more researchers at international conferences. Therefore, the project will be extended for another year. We believe that this project's research outcomes will significantly contribute to society.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the upcoming year, our primary focus will be on publishing the research outcomes in top-tier academic journals and disseminating these results to more researchers at academic conferences. Therefore, the project leader will attend more academic conferences in the next year to compensate for the lack of academic exchanges previously hindered by COVID-19.
