Outline of Research at the Start

This proposed research aims to mitigate the precarious work elements caused by macro socio-economical forces, meso organizational practices and micro individual circumstances through an examination of tourism and hospitality employment in search of decent work and dignity. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the effectiveness of theory-based interventions in search of workplace dignity in tourism and hospitality will be examined.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

The first round of data collection was completed, and the initial findings were presented at the TTRA APAC conference in December. Two publications were released, and another is on the way, expected in May 2024. Overall, research progress is on the right track.

Current Status of Research Progress

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

Recently, I submitted a research abstract to a Q1 ranking journal (details not yet disclosed), which was accepted. I am currently preparing a manuscript for submission by August 2024.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

A second round of data collection is necessary in Japan. Additionally, during the fiscal year 2024, I plan to stay in Melbourne, Australia, to share my research findings and observe hospitality employment practices.
