| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は日本語学習者の語彙探索行動の調査を行い、辞書使用の実態を明らかにするものである。具体的には次の3段階を踏む。①辞書ツールで日本語を調べる際、画面収録機能を起動して検索画面を録画してもらう。②その際、発話思考法を併用して思考内容を言葉にし、その発話も録音してもらう。③意図が不明確な行動は、フォローアップインタビューにより、意図の解釈を裏づける。2021年度はデータの収集を中心に行い、2022年度はデータの分析と研究発表を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study was to clarify learners' difficulties in using dictionary tools and how to improve them by recording and analyzing their online vocabulary search behavior through screen recording to see how learners of Japanese use their smart phones as dictionaries. In terms of recording, we were able to collect data on vocabulary search behavior from 111 learners from 10 universities across China, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, the UK, Germany, and Japan, including approximately 3,000 videos and 4,000 sheets. In terms of analysis, the lexical search behavior was classified into four stages: input language, input method, search resource, and search process, suggesting that each stage has its own difficulties and that these difficulties need to be improved in the dictionary tool side.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
日本語学習者は現在紙の辞書はほとんど使わず、スマホに依存している。しかし、スマホを辞書として使用した場合、多様な問題点が存在する。本研究では、スマホの画面録画機能を用いて世界各地の学習者の辞書検索行動を大量に収集・分析し、日本語学習者の辞書にたいするニーズや困難点を明らかにした。こうした調査結果は、教室での辞書使用やオンラインの辞書開発に役立ち、日本語の学習環境の改善につながることが期待できる。
