Outline of Research at the Start

光を用いたコンピューティングが活発に研究されるようになったが、最先端の人工知能（AI）で問われているデータ生成等の高次機能は未踏領域である。研究代表者らはレーザーカオスを用いた人工データ生成―具体的には顔画像の人工的生成―に世界に先駆けて成功したが、系統的な理解や評価指標は確立されていない。そこで本研究では指標構築を含め、光を用いた人工データ生成等の機能構築を含め、光とコンピューティングの合成による大きな研究展開に向けた萌芽的知見を獲得することを目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

光を用いたコンピューティングが活発に研究されるようになったが、その基本機能は「認識」機能に留まっており、最先端のAIで問われている「データ生成」等の高次機能は未踏領域である。研究代表者らは光の物理的特長が高次機能に向けて展開されていないとの問題意識を有し、レーザーカオスを用いた人工データ生成―具体的には顔画像の人工的生成―に世界に先駆けて成功した（Sci Rep 2019）。すなわち従来の光情報処理での「認識機能」を越え、「データ生成」という新たな可能性を切り拓いた。人工データ生成に必須の大量疑似乱数の物理限界の打破に加え、レーザーカオス時系列に固有の時間構造をシグネチャとしたセキュリティ等の新たな機能を提供する。しかし、これまでの実績は、実験で得られた特定のレーザーカオス時系列に基づいており、理論的・系統的な理解や評価指標は確立されていない。本研究を挑戦的研究（萌芽）として実施する目的は、光を用いた人工データ生成という研究領域を、レーザー物理や数理モデルを基礎に学術的に理解し、光と処理系の合成という実装の高度化を含めた大きな今後の大きな研究展開に向けた萌芽的知見を獲得することにある。
研究の二年度目である本年度は、データ生成機能の基盤となる原理として、リザーバーコンピューティングを用いる方法を検討した。リザーバーコンピューティングは対象のダイナミクスをコピーする能力があり、近年、教師情報として与えていないダイナミクスを想起できることが示された(Chaos 2021)。これは一種の人工的データ生成機能と言える。ただし、対象のサンプリング頻度によってはリザーバーコンピューティングが意図通りに機能しないことを見出した。そのためリザーバーコンピューティングにおけるサンプリングの影響を掘り下げて検討した（JKCCS 2023）。
