| Outline of Research at the Start |
さび病菌罹病組織の乾燥標本に包埋された寄生菌と宿主植物の遺伝情報を最新のDNA修復技術、解析技術を駆使して回収・解析する手法を用い、宿主と病原体の相互作用に関する新奇因子を得られた遺伝情報から探索する。さらに、それらの情報から当該遺伝子産物のコード領域を増幅し、蛍光タンパクレポーターとの融合タンパクを発現するコンストラクトを作成し、遺伝子銃を用いた一過的発現法により機能解析を行う。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The objective of this study was to collect information on effector candidate gene sequences from the genome information of rust fungi, based on nuclear localization sequences and DNA binding motifs as a marker, and to analyze their functions using a transient expression system with Agrobacterium. I investigated the method of disruption of the rust fungal spores , and found an effective method of disruption of the fungal spores.
To establish transient expression assay system using Agrobacterium, I established a high-throughput system using multi-well plates and Arabidopsis seedlings, and succeeded in obtaining synthetic compounds that improve the efficiency of transgene expression using this system.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
さび病菌の新規エフェクターの同定には至らなかったが、同時並行して実施した、新規な一過性発現系に関する研究は順調に進み、マルチウェルプレートとシロイヌナズナ芽生えを用いたハイスループット系を確立することが出来た。さらに、一過性発現系を高効率化する新規な生理活性物質を発見したが、これは植物を用いた有用物質生産系の高効率化等の応用が考えられ、今後の産業応用が大いに期待される。
