Outline of Research at the Start

ベトナムのダラット大学が保有する透過力の高いX線が容易に得られる輸血用血液照射用の可搬型低エネルギーX線照射装置に着目し、日本側研究者が被災古文書の救出・乾燥・修復作業の専門家とともに開発した自然災害による水損・汚損古文書の放射線殺菌法をベトナム側の共同研究者に技術指導し、National Archives Center Ⅳやダラットが属するLam Dong省のArchives Centerが所蔵するグエン王朝時代の文書の木製の版木や紙資料、絹資料のカビ汚染除去のための照射殺菌法を開発する。さらに国際原子力機関(IAEA)アジア地域協力プロジェクトを通じてアジア地域全体への技術移転を目指す。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ダラット市が属するベトナムのLamDong省のベトナム国立公文書保存センターIVに収蔵されているグェン王朝時代の版木(Woodblock)から分離された主要な汚染カビ、Cladosporium属、Aspergillus属のカビの低エネルギーX線の殺菌効果の検討を継続し、低エネルギーのX線成分をカットするために用いられる金属フィルターを取りはずすことによる低エネルギーのエックス線がCladosporium属のカビ胞子の感受性を増感し、以前に発表したデータ(Dr. Linhら、Cladosporium属はRADIOISOTOPES誌、Bacillus subtilis芽胞にはベトナムで開催された国際会議Vinanst-15において発表)の再現性を強く示唆することが明らかになった。さらにベトナムの古都フエにある寺院、Temple of Tuy Ly VuongのWoodblockの保存状況についても調査し、これまでに確立した低エネルギーX線の殺菌法が適用可能であることが見出された。前年度にダラット大学で開催した合同シンポジウム「DLU‐OMU Symposium on "Preservation of Cultural Heritage Using Ionizing Radiation Technology"」において提案された低エネルギーX線照射のWoodblockの微生物や昆虫による資料内部の劣化検査への応用については、CTスキャン(3D)と単純X線画像(2D)により内部の虫食いなどによる空洞が2D画像で十分観察可能であり、通常の医療用X線装置により容易に資料の劣化状況の評価が博物館内で期待できる成果である。これらの成果を踏まえ、ベトナムの技術者との交流を継続し、関係者への指導を通じて文化財保全における放射線利用の拡大と汎用化を図りたい。
