Outline of Research at the Start

ルーマニアの山地や丘陵地では、地すべり、崩壊、土石流といった土砂移動(マスムーブメント)による土砂災害が発生しやすい。本研究では同国中部の山地において、地形と植生構造に関する高解像度のデータを取得する。次に、得られたデータをGISで処理し、機械学習を含む数理モデルも適用してマスムーブメントや土砂災害の分布や発生要因を明らかにし、ハザードマップを作成する。並行して、居住や農業と関連した土地利用、住民の災害に対する意識、土砂災害に対する行政の対応に関する人文社会的な調査を行う。次に2つの取り組みの結果を比較検討し、地域の防災力の向上と持続的発展のために何が必要かを総合的な見地から明らかにする。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度のルーマニアでの野外調査では、カルパチア山脈の山麓に位置するパトゥルラジェレ町で見られる地すべりの地形を詳しく把握することに重点をおいた。前年度にはドローンで撮影した空中写真にSfM写真測量を適用し、解像度数cmのデジタル標高モデル(DEM)を作成した。今年度は、mm単位の解像度のDEMを典型的な地すべり地で取得した。この際には、ポールカメラおよびスマートフォーンを用いた写真測量と、ハンドヘルドLidarセンサを用いた地上計測を行った。次に、異なる手法で得られた複数の地形データを比較し、各手法の評価を行った。
ルーマニアでの調査と同様の手法を用いた高解像地形データの取得を日本国内などでも実施し、データ取得の方法論を詳しく検討した。また、得られたデータを活用した地すべりや斜面崩壊に関する研究を行った。たとえば、多時期のレーザー測量データを解析することで、緩慢に変形し続けている斜面の変位ベクトルを求め、その結果に基づいて今後の崩壊の危険域を明らかにした。また、崩壊が生じた際に崩土が到達する範囲を、機械学習を用いて推定した。一方、広域の地形データを解析する一つの方法として、NASAが国際宇宙ステーションで取得しているGEDI(Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation)データを用いた検討も行った。
ルーマニアの研究対象地域では、過疎化・周縁化の進行などの社会経済的な状況が日本の中山間地域と類似している。この観点から、現地でのジオパーク設立の意義と課題について検討した。この際には、野外での観察とともに、図書館等での文献渉猟や関係者への聞き取りも行って多角的な議論を目指した。
今年度はルーマニアの研究者と協力して、本研究の成果や意義を地元の一般人に伝えて議論を行うイベントを市の公会堂と高校で各1回実施し、研究のアウトリーチを試みた。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

昨年度の段階では研究初期のコロナ禍の影響が残っていたが、今後は研究を加速できるという見通しであった。しかし今年度は、2名の主要なルーマニア人研究者のうち1名が深刻な病気になり、研究活動をほとんど行えない状況になった。この研究者の快復を待って現地調査を行う予定であったが、病状が予想よりも重く、年度末になっても快復しなかった。そこで、ルーマニア側の参加者が限られる状況で、年度末の3月に現地調査を行った。この際には雨天の時間が長く、実施できた野外調査の量が予定の半分以下になってしまった。代わりに現地で市民向けのアウトリーチを行って時間の有効活用を試みたが、研究の根幹的な部分の加速は、今年度は実現できなかった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

前記したルーマニア人研究者の健康面での事情については、当面解決が望めない可能性がある。そこで次年度は、現状を踏まえた新たな研究計画を年度の最初に立て、人的な制約がある中でも研究を着実に推進できるように工夫する。現地では、今年度に行った非常に高解像の地形データの取得を、タイプが異なる地すべりについて行う予定である。また、昨年度進展した、ジオパークと関連した社会科学的な検討についても、地形などの自然の調査とリンクさせつつ発展させることを目指す。
