Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では日仏の中堅・若手研究者がチームを結成し,共役化合物固体が示す高速励起移動の機構解明のために,励起移動の距離と方向をナノ精度で実測する。目的達成のためには,励起位置と励起移動の到達点(蛍光を発する)をナノ精度で決定する必要がある。到達点は顕微蛍光イメージングで得られた発光スポットを2Dガウス関数で解析することでナノ精度決定できるが,回折限界によりレーザー光を集光するのみでは10 nm程度の励起サイズは達成できず,励起位置決定が課題である。そこで,アップコンバージョン発光を示すナノ粒子をナノサイズ励起源とし,励起移動距離と方向の超解像実空間計測を達成する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度までの研究により,共役有機固体中の希土類イオンを含むアップコンバージョンナノ粒子(RE-UCナノ粒子)から周囲の共役分子に励起エネルギー移動が起こることを示す分光的データ取得(集合系対象),また共役分子固体中での励起移動後の安定化(発光)サイトの超解像可視化に成功していたが,今年度はさらに,単一ナノ粒子レベルの詳細な時間分解分光計測を実施した。代表者伊都,分担者五月女は研究協力者(大学院生)及び海外共同研究者であるフランス側(Lille大学及びCNRS)研究グループと協力し,パルスレーザーを励起光源とした共焦点顕微鏡ベースの測定システムを用いて個々のRE-UCナノ粒子の発光減衰挙動を計測し,単一ナノ粒子レベルの励起ダイナミクスに関する情報を取得した。分担者北川・伊藤は伊都と協力し,この実験系構築のために,種々の分子/高分子固体作製方法を検討し,目的としたRE-UCナノ粒子内包固体試料を作製した。共役分子固体中ではナノ粒子の発光寿命が短くなり,確かに励起移動が起こっていることを単一粒子レベルで確認できた。また,RE-UCナノ粒子からの励起エネルギー移動により励起された共役分子固体中で励起エネルギー移動(エネルギーマイグレーション)が起こるかを実験的に確かめるために,共役分子固体(フィルム)の時間分解蛍光スペクトルを測定した。
また,RE-UCナノ粒子とは異なる機構でUC発光を示す,三重項-三重項消滅(TTA)に基づくUC機構で可視域発光するナノ粒子の局所励起源としての評価にも取り組んだ。白金を含む有機金属錯体を合成し,発光材である有機色素との混合系ナノ粒子を作製し,その発光挙動を評価した。

Reason

2022年度末までに励起移動距離の実空間計測に関してほぼ実証できており,2023年度は,より詳細な知見の取得のためRE-UCナノ粒子から共役高分子固体などの周囲媒体への励起移動を時間分解単一ナノ粒子分光により計測した。共役分子固体中のRE-UCナノ粒子の発光寿命は,固体基板上に分散固定された(周囲に共役固体が存在しない条件下の)RE-UCナノ粒子に比べ,平均的に短寿命の発光減衰を示した。また,共役分子固体中に存在するRE-UCナノ粒子およびその周囲の共役分子固体の発光寿命をそれぞれの発光波長ごとに取得したところ,共役分子固体の発光寿命はRE-UCナノ粒子のそれとよく一致し,単一ナノ粒子レベルにおいても,確かに励起移動が起こっていることが確認でき,その定量評価も実現できた。さらに粒子ごとに異なる励起移動速度を示すことも明らかにし,共役分子固体中の励起移動が場所に強く依存することを明らかにした。用いた共役分子固体の時間分解発光スペクトルを詳細に測定し,この固体中では,励起後時間とともに発光スペクトルの重心が長波長側に遷移することを確認し,確かにエネルギーマイグレーションが起こる系であることも実験的に確認した。
上記に加え,可視域発光するTTA-UCナノ粒子を局所励起源として使用するために,増感剤として白金を含む有機金属錯体を合成し,発光材である有機色素との混合系ナノ粒子を再沈殿法により調製し,条件を種々検討しナノ粒子のサイズ制御を試みた。得られた単一ナノ粒子の発光挙動も前年度に引き続き評価した。TTA-UCナノ粒子の単一粒子発光特性を評価した。空気中での測定では酸素消光などが観測され,測定に適した条件選定が重要であることが明らかとなり,このTTA-UCナノ粒子の利用のための最適測定条件決定のための基礎的データを取得した。これら進捗は,当初予測を上回る状況である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

上述のように,2023年度はRE-UCナノ粒子からの励起移動による共役分子固体のナノスケール局在化励起に対して,特に単一ナノ粒子レベルでの励起移動の計測を実施した。また,エネルギーアクセプターである共役固体の励起ダイナミクスに関してもより詳細な知見を取得するために,時間分解発光スペクトル測定などを実施し,ナノスケールで局所励起された固体中でエネルギーマイグレーションが起こることを実験的に確認し,これまで得られた励起エネルギー移動距離の直接測定に関するデータの妥当性を担保する結果を得た。今後はこれまでに得られたデータをまとめ,フランス側の共同研究者とその研究グループ,分担者(北川,五月女,伊藤)と綿密に協議し,得られた成果を論文等で発表するための準備を進めるとともに,UCナノ粒子を用いた励起エネルギー移動の超解像計測手法の確立に向けてさらに研究を進める。例えば,内部構造(結晶相/非晶質など)や分光特定の異なるエネルギー移動媒体(共役分子固体)に対する測定や,局所励起源としてのTTA-UCナノ粒子の評価と励起エネルギー移動の測定への展開などが考えられる。
