Research Abstract

2011年11月23日～12月13日に、オーストラリア連邦西オーストラリア州に設けた植林実験地にて現地調査を行った。現地では植林木の各部のサイズを測る毎木調査、萌芽更新実験による萌芽の成長状況の確認、センサーのデータ回収およびメンテナンス等を行った。これらのデータは植林樹木の生長による炭素固定量の推定、植林地における水や炭素の物質循環評価、現地の水移動シミュレーション構築の参考、ユーカリの萌芽更新によるバイオマスエネルギーの生産能力の評価などに使用される予定である。
また2011年10月17日に、オーストラリア連邦で軽飛行機を使用した地上調査を行っているFlinder Universityのチーフサイエンティストにして、Airborne Research Australiaの代表を務めるProfessor Jorg Hackerと学術的会合を行った。彼らも、我々も植林地を設けて研究している西オーストラリア州のSturt Meadowsにて調査を行っており、今後のコラボレーションも視野に入れた意見交換およびデータを交えた議論を行った。
一連の研究成果の一部は、国内外の学会および学術雑誌への論文で発表した。
