Research Abstract |
Development of General Anti-Particle Spectrometer, GAPS, has been carried out. GAPS is motivated to investigate the dark matter mystery and other early-universe physics discipline through unexplored highly sensitive observation of (or search for) cosmic-ray antiparticles including undiscovered antideuterons. In preparation for the Antarctic balloon flights, prototype of each GAPS subsystem has been developed and verified by various tests. In 2012, an engineering balloon flight was successfully carried out using a prototype GAPS payload. As a consequence, the basic design and performance of each GAPS subsystem were verified.
