Research Abstract

本研究課題は昨年度から引き続き、メタノール改質器用触媒プロセス開発、次世代燃料電池触媒開発である。いずれも、一般家庭用普及に大きく関わる基盤技術開発である。メタノールを燃料に使った燃料電池システムは複数あるが、ここではダイレクトメタノール方式ではなく、改質器-選択酸化-水素燃料電池のシステムを想定し、研究は「改質器触媒プロセス開発」と、最終段階の「燃料電池新規触媒開発」に焦点を当てる。改質器触媒については、Cu-ZnO-Al_2O_3系を軸に昨年度中に進展があった。本年度はPt代替NiもしくはCoにCもしくはBを添加した電極触媒ナノ粒子の開発を主に進めた。
3月11日の震災により、4月より実験装置、ガラス器具の修理・買い直し、実験室の復旧等により大幅に研究が遅れた。実験を始められるようになった後、まず昨年度合成に成功したCoB,NiCナノ粒子の合成方法を基に、CoC、NiBナノ粒子の合成を試みた。液相合成によりそれらの粒子を粒径が約10~30nmの範囲でカーボン担体上に析出させることに成功した。得られた触媒の表面には反応中の有機物と思われる不純物の付着により、反応が進行しなかった。そこで、UVオゾンへの暴露、焼成処理等により表面の洗浄を行った後、電気化学特性を調査した。得られた起電力はどの粒子でも最大0.5VとPtの半分ほどではあったが、貴金属以外で正極における酸素還元反応を可能にできる事を証明した。現在、さらに起電力を大きくすべく、CやB添加量の増大、粒径の微細化、担持量の制御を行い、起電力の制御を試みている。
