Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of the randomized controlled trial was to examine the effects on quality of life (QoL) of an interdisciplinary preventive home visits for frail elders. Eligible subjects (n=360) were randomly assigned to visit (VG: n=179) or control group (IG: n=181).The program included nurses’ home visits for 2 years, listing care needs systematically to prevent frailty. QoL parameters were collected via mail questionnaire at baseline, and care levels and the LTCI service use were obtained. Subjects in VG were more likely to maintain in ADL (p<.05) and to decline in daily life satisfaction (p<.05) than those in CG over 2 years. A generalized linear model showed that the estimate of the effect on care level decline was -0.53 (p<.05) over 3 years. The results suggest that the updated preventive home visits could be effective in reduce on ADL and care need deterioration.
